Tama ImperialStar Drum Kit Features
Shells:100% poplar 6ply/7.5mm Poplar wood has been used in making drum shell for over 50 years. It offers a full, warm tone combined with medium attack.

Tama ImperialStar Precise Bearing Edges
A drum's bearing edge is one of the most important components in drum sound. Our advanced edge-cutting process provides extremely precise bearing edges - which allow TAMA shells to ring openly and fully, and provide a wide range of tune ability, sensitivity and response.

100% Glued Finishes
Some drum companies only affix their wraps to the drum shell by taping the finish at "selected contact points". At TAMA, all of our wrapped finishes are glued to the shell 100% to eliminate warping, buzzing or lifting. This process allows the shell to resonate fully and consistently. Tama Imperial Star Original Small Lugs Imperial star lugs are 10% smaller than the lugs of our previous Swing Star series for even greater shell resonance.

Drum Heads Batter side heads are made of clear 250 microns thick film for richer tone and greater durability. Ring mufflers on bass drum heads remove the need for additional internal muffling.

Accu-Tune Bass Drum Hoops
A special formulation hi-tech material offers lighter weight, and faster, more stable tuning than traditional metal hoops. In addition, since Accu-Tune hoops use tension bolts instead of clawhooks and T-rods, head changes and packing up are a breeze.

Tama Spur Brackets
Imperial star spur bracket features the same look and style as our high-end Starclassic drums and provides maximum durability and stability.

Tama Tom Holder
TAMA L-Rod and Omnisphere tom holder systems have received acclaim from drummers for over 25 years. These systems offer easy positioning, maximum flexibility, stability and greater sound than standard designs which penetrate the shell interior and can inhibit resonance.

Tama Tom Brackets
The eye-bolet structure is rock solid, holding the toms in place securely.

Tama Superstar Drum Kit Shells

Our highest priority feature when developing the Superstar series was sound. Superstar shells use birch for the main inner ply for strong projection and aggressive open sound.

To enhance Superstar’s great looks, basswood, with its excellent consistency and regular grain patterns, is utilised for the inner ply on all Superstar shells as well as the outer ply on Superstar Custom SL. Precisely cut bearing edges bring out the great response and powerful resonance of these superbly crafted shells.

Tama Star-Cast Mounting System (US PAT.NO.5454288)
Superstar rack toms are fitted with a Star-Cast Mounting System similar to StarClassic drums. This unique system offers total tom isolation and unhindered shell resonance without the adverse effect on tuning or complicated head changes found in less advanced suspension designs.

Tama Die-Cast Hoops (Superstar)
No other drum embodies pro features at an affordable price like Superstar. In a first for this price range, Superstar is equipped with the same zinc die-cast hoops featured on StarClassic drums. Die-cast hoops not only make tuning easier and more consistent, they also provide crisp attack, clear and resonant highs, and much more powerful rim shots.

Tama Sound Bridge High-Tension Lug
The Sound Bridge high-tension, low-mass lug was specifically designed for Superstar. Sound Bridge’s unique structure looks much like a traditional high-tension lug, but the body of the lug "floats" over the shell to minimise shell contact so the drum can resonate to its fullest. However, Sound Bridge still offers all the benefits of the traditional high-tension lug: it offsets the tension of the batter side and bottom side heads, reduces the stress on the shell, and provides greater protection to the drum shell during transport.

Power Craft Drumheads
All Superstar’s "Power Craft" drum heads ensure a great sound practically right out of the box! Batter side heads are made of Dupont® Mylar® film for richer tone and greater durability. Ring mufflers on bass drum heads remove the need for extra internal muffling.

Quick-set Tilter (US PAT.NO.7385127)
All Superstar’s catalog kits come standard with upgraded Roadpro cymbal stands.The toothless "Quick-set" cymbal tilter lets you adjust the angle freely and hold it in position by the friction of six metal disc plates instead of gears. You’re completely free to adjust it to any angle you desire. This mechanism also has a more durable structure than the conventional gear tilter.
